What are some study plans for the MBBS 1st year?

There's something common, to get noticed in all of them.

  • Study from day 1, Don't grind. Be consistent in learning, so that, you'll not have to stress out at the end.

  • Don't blindly grind with standard texts, just because your seniors told you to. They themselves wouldn't have.

  • Get to your University library or borrow one from your seniors , look upto the standard texts, see if you are good-going with them.

  • Study from texts , which makes you feel you own the topic, once you're done with it. That's for you!!

  • Don't even care what your classmates are going with.

  • Make use of vedio lectures online. Make the most out of them. It was too late, when I was upto them.

  • Making notes is upto you, just don't make another version of the entire textbook. You can take notes for the important topics.

  • Don't skip any lectures from the University. Just don't!

So, more precisely,

1.Anatomy

You'll fall in love with your own muscles and nerves, once you grasp the subject.

Be the most active bee in dissection halls. You’re gonna learn the most from the cadaver.

Grab the opportunities, hold the scalpel. You'll get all the confidence.

Before reading your texts, look for dissection and animated vedios on YouTube. Trust me, they'll teach you the magic of photographic memory!

BD Chaurasia, Vishram Singh are some of the texts you'll be great at.

Gray's Anatomy is the standard text. I hardly used it.

Practise diagrams. They'll fetch you good marks.

Dr.Mitesh Dave, Dr. Viren Kariya(for osteology) ,The Charsi of Medical Literature, Anatomyzone, Kenhub are some of my favorite YouTube channels.

Histology: I hardly ever studied Histology 😂. You must be good at identifying the slides. You'll get to it!

I used IB Singh's histology text. Vishram Singh would be great as well.

Embryology : Look upto vedio lectures (Dr.Rose is great) and then study from texts.

2.Physiology

You'll never know when you started liking the subject, it's the favorite for many.

Guyton and Ganong are the standard texts.

GK Pal , AK Jain , Sembulingam are other texts.

I personally loved Guyton , especially for the Cardiovascular system. I used GK Pal as well.

Sembulingam is more of an exam oriented book.

Dr. Najeeb's lectures and Ninja nerds are my favorite YouTube channels. Dr. Najeeb's lectures are quite lengthy. Try it out at 2x.

Don't hesitate to try out Guyton!

You can follow Dr.Hardik Mistry for Physiology practicals.

3. Biochemistry

You'll hear people tagging it, ‘the most volatile subject'. To be honest, it's not, when you ‘actually’ understand why such cycles happen in our system.

Harper and Lipincott are the standard texts. Harper is the best for genetics.

DM Vasudevan is also great . I used it.

MD Rafi, Sathyanarayanan are other texts.

Dr. Rajesh Jambhulkar 's vedio lectures are great. They are the best for exams.

Write down and practise the cycles! You'll not regret.

After all, the study techniques, the entire batch follows needn't essentially be yours.

Try out, experience and find what works the best for you!
