Which is tougher: NEET or MBBS?

Obviously 100% NEET preparation phase. No comparison.

The thing with MBBS is that it is almost constant for everyone. The period outside exams is good and the period during exams is hard. The only thing which you have to manage is any personal/family issues occuring during the wrong time and complicating your MBBS. But all in all, your MBBS life will be quite predictable.

Everyone who has done MBBS has once felt- “Mein kyu aa Gaya isme”. Those with maths would also think- “Engineering hi le leta 😑”. And of course the classic phrase - 'Meine MBBS li aur mbbs ne Meri li' 😂😂

But you are part of a highly predictable course with very good chances that you will make it out in first attempt lol. In my batch, more than 75-80% made it out without a supple in any year and 90%+ made it out in exactly 5.5 years. Yes, I know that these are anecdotal % but still gives you an idea that MBBS is predictable. You just need to learn to adjust to it. That is the only thing which decides whether you will make it or not.

However NEET prep ( even PG if you are going for Indian post grad! ) is unpredictable. The entire statistics is against you to begin with lol. You may be the topper of your school/mohalla/coaching but you are still a NEET aspirant who has to climb against the statistical odds. If you don't get a sufficient rank, you don't get a medical college.

It is as simple as that. The only solution is to give it next year or leave it. I mean, obviously one should not give up for next try, but it is clearly evident that the odds are quite against you and there are many things complicating further tries for some applicants ( family, friends, relatives etc etc)…( Though if anyone asks me, I will always support taking a drop since a year or two dont matter in long run, but I understand everyone had different circumstances).

LOOK AT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN TOO

While doing MBBS the first thing that comes to my mind is yesss definitely MBBS is much much tougher than NEET , NEET was petty easy , there was sooo less to study . Sometimes I even feel like going back to those days , cuz life was much easier and simplier there , but that is definitely not what I actually want. 😂. The only reason to think NEET easy is because I have passed that days and successfully overcome all the obstacles that it had offered to me . Now MBBS has come up with more difficult challenges and obstacles which I'm in the process of overcoming . U will realise life never gets easier as u grow up , infact it gets more complicated .

But giving it a thought and remembering my preparation days ( at that time obviously I thought this is the toughest time of my life and the most difficult challenge I will ever face in my life ) I try to present a comparison :—

During NEET prepation days :—

The positive points :—

  • Compared to the vast MBBS course the syllabus of NEET is less and easier , u can revise the course numerous times . U only had to solve MCQ's ( I think which is petty easier than drawing diagrams and writing subjective answers )

  • Most of us were guided by mentors who taught , influenced and motivated us to go on . There was constant tests to assess our progress .

  • Obviously life was easier and less complicated 😃.

The disadvantages :—

  • There was a constant uncertainty and fear at the back of our minds . There was always that one question that kept us disturbed ! What next ? What if we won't get selected. There was a continuous pressure to perform and excell ourselves .

  • This uncertainty is hightenened in drop year where u don't have any identity , while rest of your friends are studying in different colleges , u are still reading the +2 syllabus , and staying away from as much as social gatherings as possible , u still don't have a Sunday off like the rest of your friends , cuz u have an AIATS to give that day. U don't know what to answer when your curious relatives would ask “90 % se zyaaada marks leke boards mein ghar pein baithe ho ???”

  • Most of us sacrificed our social life , cuz what I believed and what several other aspirants believed that after we crack NEET , life is going to be a bed of roses , which was completely a wrong thought. “Ek baar NEET crack karlo uske baad aish hi aish hain “ is a biggest scam ! 😂.

The MBBS days :—

The negatives :—

  • The course is huge as compared to NEET . There are 19 subjects and u really can't figure out what to study and how to study .

  • As u grow up u have to leave the umbrella of your parents and handle several situation , where previously u were guided by your parents and u didn't have to think much on that. ( I think this is just a part of growing up and becoming independent and not just exclusive of MBBS course )

  • The prof days( MB'S) are terrible and pathetic . U barely get to sleep properly.
